“Lucio Franco Amanti (born in Montreal on November 14, 1977) is an Canadian born Italian cellist and composer. Amanti´s music is characterized by the integration of jazz and pop idiom into classical music forms.”

Lucio franco amanti is an extraordinary figure in the international music scene, renowned as much in the classical music scene as in the jazz one. His career, characterized by rare versatility and deep intellectual curiosity, has developed over more than twenty years, during which time he has built a solid reputation as both a performer and a composer. His works have been performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Wigmore hall in London, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, the Auditori in Barcelona, the Eastgate theater in Edinburgh, Mendelssohn Haus in Leipzig, the Salle Cortot in Paris, the radial system in berlin,  the Giuseppe Verdi conservatory in Turin, the music arts center in Bloomington (Indiana), theater on the square Johannesburg and the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. These works are prized for their ability to transcend labels and speak to both elite audiences and the uninitiated.

 

Since 2007, his works have been published by Schott music and have been commissioned and performed by ensembles such as the Cuarteto casals, the Armida quartet, Eckart Runge and the Goldberg trio. As a producer, composer and music consultant, he worked for MetaDesign ag. In Berlin, where he explored the concept of audio branding, shaping sound identity for clients such as Audi, Lufthansa and Siemens. Also, with MetaDesign, he appeared together with legendary designer Uli Mayer Johansen in the film 24 hours berlin. As a composer for film, he has worked on numerous feature films and short films and recorded much of the music for the first season of the Babylon berlin series, which also purchased one of his original compositions for the first series.

 

His contribution in the field of music education is indisputable, not only for his lectures at the UDK “jazz institute” in Berlin, the Indiana university “Jacobs” school of music, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam and the university of south Africa, but also for his extensive and constantly updated presence in the catalog of pedagogical works produced by Schott music and distributed worldwide.

 

Born in Montreal, Canada, to Italian parents, His family moved back to Italy shortly after birth. It was there that his musical journey began, with piano lessons at the age of four and cello lessons at eight. He graduated from the San Pietro a Majella conservatory in Naples, always followed by the tireless mentor of his life, maestro Giacinto Caramia. In 2002, Amanti was invited by legendary cellist Janos starker to study at the Indiana university school of music in Bloomington, USA. There he discovered a passion for jazz and improvisation, which led him to study composition, jazz and improvisation with the renowned dr. David baker. Lovers and graduates in 2006 with a performer diploma in cello and a master in jazz studies.

 

Today, Amanti lives between Italy and Germany with his wife and three children, where he continues to work passionately on creating new cultural bridges in and out of the world of music.
